The idea for this mini airplane came up when I was creating my little panda bear – pilot. And every pilot needs a plane, so here it is 🙂
What you’ll need?
- 100% Cotton yarn (I’ve used Alize Bella) in blue and red
- 2 mm crochet hook
- 3 small buttons
- Sewing needle and thread
- Bubble pins and scissors
To crochet the mini airplane, you would need the following skills:
- crocheting a chain
- magic ring (m.r.)
- single crochet (sc)
- slip stitch (sl. st.)
- increase/decrease (inc. / dec.)
Fuselage (use blue yarn):
1r. 6 sc in m. r. (6)
2r. Inc in every st (12)
3r. [1 sc, Inc] (18)
4r. [2 sc, Inc] (24)
5r. – 8r. Sc in every stitch around (24)
9r. [6 sc, Dec] (21)
10r. Sc in every stitch around (21)
11r. [5 sc, Dec] (18)
12r. Sc in every stitch around (18)
Start stuffing
13r. [4 sc, Dec] (15)
14r. Sc in every stitch around (15)
15r. [3 sc, Dec] (12)
16r. Sc in every stitch around (12)
17r. [3 sc, Dec] (9)
18r. [1 sc, Dec] (6)
Stuff the fuselage nice and firm. Finish with a slip stitch. Leave a long end and with cotton darning needle tighten all stitches. Cut the yarn, hiding the end inside the fuselage.
Tail (use red yarn):
1r. 6 sc in m. r. (6)
2r. [1 sc, Inc] (9)
3r. Sc in every stitch around (9)
4r. [2 sc, Inc] (12)
Finish with a slip stitch. Leave a long end for sewing. Do not stuff it, just flatten it.
Wings (Make 2, use red yarn):
1r. 6 sc in m. r. (6)
2r. [1 sc, Inc] (9)
3r. Sc in every stitch around (9)
4r. [2 sc, Inc] (12)
5r. – 6r. Sc in every stitch around (12)
Finish with a slip stitch. Leave a long end for sewing. Do not stuff them, just flatten them.
Propeller (Make 2, use red yarn):
1r. 8 sc in m.r. (8)
2r. – 5r. Sc in every stitch around (8)
6r. [2 sc, Dec] (6)
7r. Sc in every stitch around (6)
Finish with a slip stitch. Leave a long end for sewing. Do not stuff them, just flatten them. Using the longs ends left, sew the two parts together.
Time for assembling:
First, start with the tail:
Continue with the wings, sew them approximately between 6th and 12th rows
Finally sew the propeller:
Final touches:
I’ve used 2 small black buttons for the wheels and sewn them below the wings and one blue button for the propeller.
Your mini airplane is ready 🙂
